What Are They Up To?

One thing I have found is that humans can be pretty interesting creatures. They are often doing things, and I feel it is my job to keep an eye on them. If I'm not sleeping, I keep a close watch on whatever they are up to. If necessary, I move in for a better look -- their business is my business.

I hope all other cats out there are keeping an eye on their humans. They need to be watched.

A Favorite Spot

Hi. It's Saturday again and you know what that means -- a guest post from me, Missy. Boo is busy messing up our litterbox.

I thought I'd show you one of my favorite spots. Boo has her spots and I have mine. Here I am in one of my best places. It is at the foot of the big bed near where my male person keeps his clothes. I like this spot because it is safe and out of the way. No one walks toward me here and I can get my rest. I need lots of rest. Plus it is right near one of my good hiding places. So if I get scared I can run and hide.

No, I'm Not Dead

I'm just napping. Can you believe that my people said I looked like a dead cat on the sofa? They should see what they look like when they're sleeping.

Also, they are just jealous because we cats can be comfortable in all sorts of positions. Sometimes you just have to flop.

I Like Chicken

Last night my people were having chicken for dinner. Well, the two male humans were. My female person doesn't like chicken -- doesn't like chicken!!! Can you believe that? I know, she is very strange. But anyway, I wanted some chicken. So I went over to my person and harassed him while he was eating. It should have been obvious what I wanted, but no, he didn't understand. He thought I wouldn't be interested because of the spicy crust on the chicken. Little did he know.

I could smell that chicken cooking. Who cared about the stupid crust? Finally, after I stood up and put my paws on the table and looked at him, he figured it out. He gave me a piece and I ate it. Then I went and took a nap. All I wanted was one piece. Humans are pretty slow sometimes.

Show the Belly!

A little while back I had a post on how a small cat could control a big chair, and keep it all to herself. Today I want to talk about a key technique that every cat should know. Show the belly!

For some reason, humans seem to think it is extremely cute when cats lay on their backs and show their bellies. I'm not sure why this is, but it's true! Since one of the main keys to controlling a chair is being as cute as possible, if all else fails, flip over and show the belly. They'll forget all about moving you out of your spot. Try it and see!

Tagged by Elin!

Elin, the cute cat, has tagged me. I have to list six things that make me happy. Let's see:

Napping, Sunbeams, My People, Kitty Treats, My Favorite Toy, & Birdwatching!

I'm a very happy cat. There's are lots of things that make me happy, but those are the first six I thought of.

What Are You Looking At?

No not you. I'm know you are looking at me. That's one reason I have this blog, so people can look at me. I'm meant my human -- the one that takes the pictures.

He's constantly pointing that camera at me and flashing the bright light in my eyes. I wish I could do that when he's busy with something. Maybe I'll just jump on him when he's asleep instead.

Deep Thoughts

I know; it looks like I'm sleeping. But I'm really thinking -- trust me. Here's what I was thinking. The humans say today is Memorial Day. From what I hear, lots of people fought and died to keep our country safe & free. I don't know much about wars, but we cats know about fighting to protect ourselves.

So I was thinking. This country is a pretty good country for cats. People don't eat us, and lots of them actually like us a lot. Some of them even rescue kittens who were abandoned like me, and give them nice homes. So from we cats in America, thanks to all the humans who died fighting to protect our country.

Window Watcher

There's always something happening outside this window. The backyard is full of birds, squirrels, and even rabbits. Sometimes birds fly right by the window. Missy and I both like to watch from here.

The last time a bird flew past I almost got him -- except for that screen thing in the window. That makes it difficult.

It's Missy Again

Hi, it's Saturday and that means it's time for another guest post from me, Missy. Boo asked me to fill in on Saturdays so she has a day off. The only problem is that I never know what to say.

Let's see. It is hot. Boo likes it hot, but I don't. In case you didn't notice, we Maine Coons have a lot of fur. You see that chair I'm sitting on in the picture? I'm not sitting on it now, because that spot is hot. Good hot weather spots are the floor, and under a fan. I hear that fan calling me now. Bye!

Plantless Planters

Look at that planter. It has nothing but dirt! All of our planters in the house right now have no plants. Why is that? I wonder if you can guess.

Well, I'll tell you. There are no plants because I killed them all. Ha ha ha!. My female human foolishly left plants where I could get at them. I bit chunks out of them and dug them up until they all died. Maybe they'll bring me some more soon.

Even without plants they are still nice to rub against though.

Guarding the Remote

Humans have this thing called "tv." Sometimes it is interesting to watch for a few seconds, but mostly it is loud and annoying. It's usually just a bunch of humans talking and doing stuff, and who wants to see that?

But I have made an interesting discovery. Humans can't use the tv without something called a "remote." This device magically controls the tv. But they can't get at it if I'm guarding it. No remote, means no tv. And that means a nap undisturbed by tv noise. Don't touch that remote if you value your hand!

Watch-Cat on Duty

What is a watch-cat you ask? Well, it's a cat that stands guard and watches. That's pretty obvious, right? It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. Today my assignment is to guard the hallway. You don't expect a human to watch things, do you? They aren't very observant and can barely hear or smell.

No one, not man nor beast shall pass without me watching them -- at least for the next minute or two. Watch-cat missions are short in duration.

Sometimes I Bite

I hope you can see what's happening in this picture. This is what we photographically informed cats like to call an "action shot." That's why it's a little blurry.

Sometimes my people play with me and forget that I am a ferocious predator -- so I have to remind them. My female person is the victim in this particular situation. See how I grabbed her hand? That's so I can hold onto her while I chomp on her arm.

She's lucky I was just playing around, or that arm might be missing some pieces.

You Stay on Your Side

...And I'll stay on mine. Sometimes I have a problem with Missy. She gets on my bed and crowds me. Her huge fluffy tail hits me in the face. She even gets attention from my people! But today we have worked out a solution.

Since the people are not on the bed, we will split it. She will keep her big furry self over on that side, and things will be fine. My nap will proceed without any problem -- once I get back to sleep after that flash.

Kitchen Island

I have spots all over the house that are mine. This is my kitchen spot. My people call it a little "movable island," even though they never move it.

This is a great spot. The bottom has doors and it holds stuff inside. And guess what's inside? That's right, cat food! My people know that if I pry open the doors that I want a treat. They are very well trained -- although sometimes I do have to yowl. I use my special "hungry" meow.

My spot is also good for keeping an eye on the stove, where interesting stuff cooks, and for looking out the window. If you don't have a good kitchen spot like me, you should get one!

Guest Post by Missy

Hi, I'm Missy the Maine coon. It's Saturday and Boo is taking off today. She asked me to fill in. I hope you don't mind. What should I say? Well, I'm just sitting here looking at my busy schedule for the day.

1. Eat

2. Use Litterbox

3. Get 22 hours of sleep.

I better get back to #3. Bye!

How to Control a Big Chair

I'm a little cat and my chair is very large. You may be wondering how I keep control of such a big seat. Observe the picture. See how I take up a lot of space in between the booklet and the arm of the chair? I could easily lay right next to the arm and leave plenty of room. Don't do that! If you do, people will get in the chair and crowd you. You don't want that.

Now look how I have my head jammed up against the arm of the chair. Aside from being a comfortable cushion, this allows me to easily pretend I'm asleep, even when I'm not, since people can't see my face. Finally, I have found that people think these kinds of positions look "cute." Really. If one of my people wants my chair, they will have to move me. And people don't want to disturb a cute, sleeping cat. Try it, it works!

Back in Black

Yes I'm back with another picture of me. I know I put up a picture of a white hamster yesterday, but I'm still black -- all black all the time

What am I doing in this picture you might ask. Well, I'm sitting on the back of a couch. What does it look like? Believe it or not, I actually spend quite a bit of time just sitting around. I know it might appear that I should have bigger and better things to do, but I actually like just sitting and looking at things -- like someone taking my picture again.

There's a Rodent in My House

I know what you're thinking, but that's not a big furry mouse. It's something called a hamster, and it lives in a glass box in my house. My people call it "Hammy." I know, they aren't very original with names.

My housemate Missy told me that before I was around, our people had two little hamsters. One died and one got out -- Missy ate it. Whenever Hammy is out I'm not allowed to get too close, and Missy doesn't seem to care about this one -- maybe because it is fat and furry like her.

Return of the Sunbeams

We had days and days of rain, and there were no sunbeams to be found. But the sun came back! I follow sunbeams wherever they go. My people always say that I like to baste in the sun.

Black fur & sunbeams go together like stinky fish & cans, like water & a bowl, like poop & litter -- well, you get the idea.

I Caught a Bird

Well, it's not a real bird. But it is a fun toy. It chirps just like a bird and is lots of fun to throw into the air, catch, and pounce on.

Some of the birds in the yard fly right up to my windows. I'll bet they think I can't get them. They should watch out -- I'm practicing.

Why Do People Leave?

I don't like when my people leave the house. Sometimes I sit at the top of the stairs and yowl. Other times I go to the door and yowl. Why do they have to leave? I don't leave. They should stay at home and keep me company.  People are fun to have around.

When they come home I meet them at the top of the stairs -- so they know I missed them.

There's a Tail in My Face

It's hard to take a nap with a big fuzzy tail in your face. Trust me, this isn't the first time Missy's tail has become a problem. I let her sleep on my bed with me, and this is the thanks I get. If i wasn't so tired there might be trouble.

What's in the Pot?

There is always stuff in pots that smells interesting. Sometimes I like to get closer for a really good sniff. But my people always start yelling, "NO BOO, HOT! HOT!.

I know it's hot. What, do they think I'm going to get in the pot? Sometimes I wonder about people -- actually, I wonder lots of times.

Who's On My Chair?

It's my housemate Missy of course. She doesn't get up there very often, but I don't mind when she does. The part I'm in is the most comfortable. As long as she stays up on top we won't have any problems.

I don't share the good part of my chair. Well, except for when my people sit in it with me. I give them a little bit of space.

Decisions, Decisions

Should I watch TV or talk on the phone? Maybe I could do both at once! Ha, ha, just kidding. I don't really do either of those things. But as you can see, I do spend a lot of time on my big bed.

I was bird-watching in the window, and had just leaped back onto my bed. Believe it or not, someone was waiting to take my picture.

Don't Mess With Me When I'm on my Fleece

These constant pictures are getting ridiculous. Can't they see I'm trying to take a nap?

I have this thing called a "fleece." It is great for cats, because it is so soft and warm. I love to nap on it, and so does Missy. Sometimes we even share it. I hope other cats have fleeces too.

My Housemate Missy

Here I am with my housemate Missy. As you can see, we are not related. Unlike me, Missy is a registered Maine Coon. I don't know what that means, but I've heard my people say it a bunch of times. She's extremely big & furry.

I've known Missy ever since I was a kitten. She's older than me. Missy is a champion napper. I'm pretty good at napping myself, but Missy can sleep almost the whole day sometimes. She and I get along pretty good. Maybe I'll see if she wants to put up a guest post once in awhile -- when she's not busy sleeping.

I Have a Secret Hiding Place

Last night I was in my secret hiding place. My people don't know where it is. Have you ever noticed how bad humans are at observing things? Well, last night they couldn't find me and got all worried. They were calling for me and looking everywhere -- everywhere but my spot that is. They even started to wonder if I'd gotten outside somehow.I stayed in my spot and listened for a while -- just to mess with them. But just as they were getting real upset I snuck up behind them and showed myself. They were very happy to see me. And they still don't know where my secret spot is.

Did I Ask to Have My Picture Taken?

You know, if I want my picture taken I'll tell you.

I've got to say, I was kind of reluctant to start this blog. Why you ask? Why would a cute personable cat like me not want pictures of herself all over the internet?

Well, some of these pictures were taken without my permission. Humans just go around snapping photos without even asking. The next thing you know they'll be taking pictures of me in my litterbox.

I Caught a Mouse

Last night I caught a mouse. I think it snuck in while the front door was open. No one noticed it except me. I have really good eyesight and hearing, unlike the people I live with. I've never caught a mouse before and I wasn't really sure what to do with it. Since I'd already eaten, I wasn't too hungry, so I thought I'd just play with it. It was even more fun than my favorite mouse toy.

I brought it into the living room and was having a great time. But then my people noticed it. They got all excited. But they took the mouse away. I don't know what happened to it. I think they might have put it back outside. Can you believe that? After all my hard work in catching it, they just let it go. What's up with that?

About My Ads

You might notice that my blog has ads on it, and you might be thinking, why is a cat running ads on her blog? I'm going to tell you. Believe or not, we cats know about money. Now true, we don't actually use money ourselves, but we know that it can get us good stuff, like food and toys. And who doesn't like food and toys? From what I hear, if people visit the ads on my blog, I can actually make money. And my people can take that money and buy me things. Wouldn't that be great? So please click on them. If you do I will give an extra loud purr.

Introduction - Who am I?

Hi. I 'd like to introduce myself. My name is Boo Boo Black. Some just call me Boo, or Boo Boo. As you can see I'm a small black cat. Here is a picture of me resting on my bed. Well, actually my people think it's their bed, but they just use it when I have better things to do.

Why is a cat writing a blog you ask? That's a good question. I'm a modern, technologically-skilled cat. Really! I know other cats have blogs, and I thought I'd start one too. I'll be writing here regularly and posting pictures. Please visit often!
